  • Why do so many choose Tailored Funerals?

Because of our professionalism, our transparency of costs and our caring approach.

It's a very difficult time when you're arranging a funeral for a loved one.  We work tirelessly to make the process as peaceful as possible.

  • How do we book a funeral/cremation?

To get the process started, you will normally get in touch with us, a funeral/cremation director. From there we will tell you your options, once everything is agreed, we will then help you start collecting the necessary paperwork.

  • What is a direct cremation

A direct cremation is the most basic cremation. It is a cremation without the funeral or procession. Once all the paperwork is in order, the normal process is to take the body to the crematorium as soon as possible. From there the body is cremated in the coffin of your choosing, usually with direct cremation it’s the lowest cost coffin. Finally, the ashes are collected by you/the next of kin, this is normally within 7 days of the cremation.

  • What documents do I need for a funeral/cremation?

The first document you will get is the green certificate, this for the burial/cremation and provided when you register the death.

The other paperwork, your cremation/funeral provider can assist you in getting. You will need an Application for cremation from the cremation/funeral provider. Form 4 cremation medical certificate, and CR5 medical certificate, which will usually be signed by doctors

  • How much does a funeral cost?

This can vary greatly from what you want from the funeral to the directors you choose to use. For a basic, direct cremation (no funeral), the price can start from around £990  (see our packages here). If you’re looking for a complete funeral, things like time and day, flowers, car pick-up arrangements can take the costs into the thousands of pounds.  To see the costs and plan the funeral click here.

  • How long after the cremation before we can collect the ashes?

This will vary depending on the cremation provider you are using, this can be the same day as the cremation, but should normally be no more than 7 days after the cremation.

  • How long does a cremation service last?

The whole cremation process will vary depending on your provider, but normally they will take no more than an hour. You will be allotted a time by your funeral directors, you need to make sure that you have allowed enough time for people to be there for the service and leave afterwards.

  • Which is more expensive, cremation or burial?

In most cases, you will find that burial is more expensive than cremation, though the costs can vary depending on a number of factors such as the funeral arrangements.
